CMU Tepper Launches Accelerated Part-Time MBA Program

CMU’s Tepper School of Business announced the launch of a new part-time accelerated MBA program this week. This allows enrolled students to earn up to two semesters of credit for similar coursework from an undergraduate degree.

Wilson says the current part-time MBA at Tepper will take about three years, but the new accelerated version will take about two years. Students can apply for credits for basic business courses taken within the last 7 years. These are accounting, finance, marketing, microeconomics, and operations. Students earning these credits will take a Re-education Business Fundamentals course in their first semester at Tepper.

The structure of Tepper’s MBA program means that as students progress, they can switch between the programs that best suit them. For example, a student starting an online program can take a class with a full-time MBA student last year if they want to pivot or decide that it is more appropriate.

“We consider CMUMBA to be one program,” said Cindy McCauley, executive director of Tepper’s online program. The part-time program offers both synchronous and asynchronous coursework online and offers optional on-campus classes. Tepper’s Access Weekends provides students with the opportunity to network with their classmates, connect with Tepper graduates, and help build a professional network.

Tepper is currently accepting applications for the first cohort of accelerated part-time MBAs in the fall of 2022.
